A resource for all grandparents, especially for multicultural grandchildren, this book is filled with funny, sad, and inspirational columns, in-depth information, and lively illustrations and photos, this book will be read, reread, and incorporated into family life. From one reviewer: "Nurturing Grandchildren: Black, White and In-between" is a poignant, cautionary, and heart-warming collection of short essays on racial identity, expectations, and relationships within interracial families. Written over several years and gathered here by educator, grandparent, and adventure-seeker Jean Moule, the collection has special meaning for grandparents seeking to understand and support their bicultural grandchildren.

About the Author:
About the Author: Jean Moule was born in rural South Carolina, raised in New York City and Los Angeles, and now lives in a farming and forestry community in Oregon. She appreciates the different opportunities of rural and urban living in various regions of the country. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where she studied art, psychology, and education and was arrested in the Free Speech Movement, along with her future husband, Robbie. For the next two decades she worked in elementary education and raised their family. Only then was she able to return to higher education, where she earned her Masters degree from the University of Oregon and a Doctorate from Oregon State University. She taught teachers at OSU for 20 years and continues to teach online. While there she created a unique immersion program for preparing educators to teach in bilingual and highly diverse settings. Her words of inspiration come from her education, experiences, and her conversations with three children, six grandchildren, and many friends and family members. She hopes that her work will help the nation’s children, including her grandchildren and yours, live in culturally competent communities and families. Visit Jean at www.jeanmoule.com.
