In the small, northern village Montooka, Haibu always knew she can do anything she wants if she just set her mind to it. One day she tries to prove it and goes fishing all by herself, but a harrowing experience finds her stranded on a drifting piece of ice. Before she knows it, she arrives lost in a completely new land she’s never seen before―New York!

As Haibu discovers the city, she learns about a nearby circus that might have clues that would help her find her way back home. But the circus animals are in serious trouble and need help right away. Haibu and her new friends will have to put their heads together to come up with a plan in order to save the animals before things get worse.

A partner of WildAid, an environmental organization dedicated to protecting wildlife, Haibu teaches children animal conservation and raises awareness about the situations and conditions animals live in the world today.

What’s your favorite animal?
Haibu: ALL of them!
Where are you originally from?
Haibu: Montooka.
What’s your favorite color?
Haibu: Yellow. Like my favorite food popcorn!
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Haibu: The Animal Protector, of course!
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Haibu: Since I can already talk to animals...maybe being able to turn invisible whenever I want.
Who is your best friend? Is it your pet Kanuux?
Haibu: He’s not my pet, he is a wild animal―but yes, he is my best friend! He is terrific at cuddling too.
Cookies or Cupcakes?
Haibu: That’s a tough one! If I had to choose one, I would say cookies with cupcake frosting on it. Mmm!
Where in the world would you like to visit?
Haibu: Australia, for sure! I have always wanted to hop like a kangaroo with an actual kangaroo!
What do you look to for inspiration?
Haibu: My Shookia. It is my bracelet that reminds me that I can achieve anything I want, as long as I work hard and am true to myself!
What’s your favorite activity to do when you’re not saving animals?
Haibu: I like having game nights with my family. Even though my brother can be annoying, sometimes he can be A LOT of fun!
What’s your biggest fear?
Haibu: I’m scared of the dark but I have a cool elephant nightlight.
What advice would you give other kids?
Haibu: Always stand up and be the voice for others who don’t have one. Be kind and treat everyone with compassion and empathy. Be Happy. Be Friendly. Be Family.

About the Author:

Blake Freeman grew up in many midwestern states but lived the majority of his life in Nashville, Tennessee. Since relocating to Los Angeles, he has been in the entertainment business for over 12 years as an actor, director, writer, and producer of film and television. The books he read as a child shaped his view of the world. With that in mind, he has always felt that wild animals need a voice, and therefore Haibu was created.
