Excerpt from the back page: My name is James Sherwood Bennett but all my life I’ve been called Jimmie. When I was 12 years old my brother kicked a can of burning gasoline on me and I became a human torch. Two-thirds of my body was burned to the third degree. To save my life, the doctors literally skinned me alive to remove the dead skin. Whatever hope in life I may have had until then was suddenly extinguished. My family life was already one filled with terror and constant fighting, and now I looked and felt like a freak. I was ridiculed from the moment I came home from the hospital.
