About the Author:

Edith S. Weigand grew up in the inky environment of the family newspaper office, a Kansas weekly founded by her grandfather in 1895. As a typesetter for her father's editorials, she absorbed the craft of word smithing and was influenced by the practice of expressing one's opinion in print. Her early writings were confined to Letters to the Editor, Op-Ed pieces, and magazine articles. Her first full length book was the biography of a Holocaust survivor, Out of the Fury, which established her as professional writer. The book has been translated into Polish and Russian, and was followed by a sequel, A Candlestick Witness. Her next writing period was a proliferation of religious works, including two theological books, Man or Messiah, and Darwin and Dogma. She composed 150 Meditations on the Scriptures for an Episcopal Church School Lectionary Curriculum. From there she began to write children's books, publishing four stories for children featuring her own Scottish Terriers, one book for each dog: The Adventures of Donnechad's Piper, Scottie-Robbie: The Story of a True Champion, If Mandy Ruled the World, and A is for Abby. Weigand is a member of the prestigious Dog Writers Association of America, and for many years has done feature writing for Great Scots Magazine, a unique single-breed publication. Weigand has written two historical novels, Strands of Delusion, set in the era immediately following the Louisiana Purchase, and Blind Irony, which takes place during the prelude to the Civil War in Kansas Territory. Edith Weigand lives in Denver, Colorado with her Rescue Scottie, Becky.
