Or will his plans melt like hot butter on a crumbly biscuit? This spunky country twist on the classic tale and bright, playful illustrations will delight readers of all ages.

It's just another quiet morning on Lazy Day Ranch when Cowboy Jack and Cowboy Dan decide to make a big buttermilk-biscuit breakfast. For fun, Cowboy Jack gives the biscuit butter-pat eyes and a strawberry jam mouth before setting the skillet on the fire to cook. Before either of the hungry cowpokes can taste even a morsel of the mouthwatering biscuit, it sprouts arms and legs and runs away! Cowboy Jack and Cowboy Dan aren't about to give up their breakfast so easily-they chase the buttermilk biscuit boy past hungry pigs, cows, and horses, who all shout "Stop you little varmint! We're hungry and we want to eat you!" as they join in the chase. The pursued pastry runs until he reaches a wide canal with a cunning coyote lurking at its edge. It'll take all of the buttermilk biscuit boy's luck to keep him safe until he reaches the other side, where even more dangers await.

Readers will enjoy the smug antics of the buttermilk biscuit boy as he runs and calls "Yeehaw, yippee-ki-yay! Y'all can't snag me, I'm gonna go play!"
