This cookbook is designed to help the average American family switch from a diet filled with white flour to a healthy, hearty, delicious whole wheat diet. Most people believe that whole wheat products are heavy, dense, and taste "wheaty". This is NOT the case; you just have to do it right. I have four small children and a husband who LOVE my whole wheat cooking. I have also taking my goods to family, friends, and neighbors and the most common response is, "I can't even tell there is wheat in this!" In this book, you will learn how to convert from white to wheat, how to make wheat flour, cracked wheat, Bulgar wheat, wheat meat, wheat berries and wheat sprouts. You will also get over 250 time-tested recipes to help you incorporate whole wheat into your diet. It is easier than you think to get your family enjoying a healthier, happier lifestyle.

About the Author:
I am your average American mother. We live on a very modest budget and I am always trying to find ways to both save money and feed my family healthy food. I have four small children and, like most kids, they are quite picky. They like normal food with normal textures and tastes. Throughout their childhood, a couple of my children have suffered from chronic constipation problems. These resulted in several trips to the doctor followed by meetings with specialists. I was told that I needed to get my kids on a high fiber diet. After researching whole wheat and the benefits of a diet rich in whole wheat, I found out that just one cup of whole wheat flour has 14 grams of fiber and over 16 grams of protein! I had to learn to incorporate whole wheat into my diet, but actually replacing my white flour recipes with whole wheat seemed impossible. I knew I had to switch for the health of my kids, but it was so much easier to cook with white flour. I also found that buying the whole wheat products in the store was more expensive than purchasing the white flour counterparts. After I began to grind my own wheat and cook with wheat, I realized something very important...wheat is cheap! If I could grind my own wheat and make my own pasta, bread, pie crusts, etc., I would save tons of money! This began my years of experimentation with whole wheat. After years of experimenting with wheat, I have finally compiled a list of recipes that my family loves that incorporate whole wheat. I never buy bread anymore and store-bought expensive pastas are a thing of the past for my family. The recipes in this cookbook are recipes that your spouse and children will love. You do not have to be a nature-loving naturalist to enjoy the recipes in this cookbook. The purpose of this book is to convert your "average American family" to wheat in a way that every family member will thoroughly enjoy.
