About the Author:

Hany Besada is a regional advisor at the African Mineral Development Centre of the UN Economic Commission for Africa and research professor at the Institute of African Studies at Carleton University, Canada. He is also a senior fellow at the University of Ottawa. Leah McMillan Polonenko is a research fellow with the Tshepo Institute for the Study of Contemporary Africa. Manmohan Agarwal teaches in the Centre of International Trade and Development at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. He has also worked at the World Bank and the IMF.
