Mrs. Caudle's Curtain Lectures - Softcover
Douglas William Jerrold (3 January 1803 - 8 June 1857) was an English dramatist and writer. Jerrold wrote for the magazine Punch. Under the pseudonym 'Q', Jerrold's liberal and radical perspective filled the magazine. His satire attacked institutions of the day. Jerrold published his comic series Mrs. Caudle's Curtain Lectures, in the 1840s, which was later published in book form. Some of the lectures in this collection are as follows. Mr. Caudle has Lent Five Pounds to a Friend, Mr. Caudle has Been at a Tavern with a Friend, and is "Enough to Poison a Woman" with Tobacco-Smoke, Mr. Caudle Joins a club--"The Skylarks.", Mr. Caudle has been Called from His Bed to Bail Mr. Prettyman from the Watch-House, Mr. Caudle has Remained Downstairs till Past One, with a Friend, and Mr. caudle has Lent an Acquaintance the family Umbrella.
