The good news is that while central Illinois is prone to tornadoes, Bloomington has never experienced a direct hit because it exists on a low-lying land surrounded by rolling hills, which creates a valley. The bad news is that Bloomington is a relatively small town. You won't find as many happenings as you would in a big city like Chicago or St. Louis (both 2 and a half hours away).

"I haven't visited the town very much, probably only three or four times. I stay busy on campus."

"Bloomington-Normal is like the Reno of the Midwest: Not the most exciting place in the area, but certainly more interesting than most of the surrounding country."

What about fraternities and sororities? Do they dominate the campus?

"You could go your whole four years without entering a frat and not feel like you've missed much."
