About the Author:

Bill Callies was born in Iowa in 1917. He became a Minnesota Game Warden at age 43. He was a warden from 1960 to 1980 and he thought it was the best job in the world. He wrote stories after he retired but gave instructions to his family that they could not be published until after he died. He died in 2003.
