Hi there,
My name is Stevie Smith and my book, Johnnie and Will, was published in 2004. Prior to this I was working with children who had social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The children aged 10 -16 years loved to be read stories but found it difficult to actually read a book.
I decided to write a story that was short in length but exciting enough to keep the children engrossed. Fortunately the story was published and I toured primary schools in Scotland reading extracts from the book and answering questions related to being an author.
This was a period in my life I will never forget. Children from all spectrums enjoyed the book and a few adults, which was great.
One gentleman in particular told me that he had just learned to read and that this was the first book he felt confident enough to read. You can not buy that feeling of contentment.
Anyway I hope you like my "little book" and feedback would be greatly appreciated.
