About the Author:

Mary Randolph is a senior legal editor at Nolo and author of several Nolo books. She earned her law degree from the Bolt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of Dog Law, The Deeds Book, 8 Ways to Avoid Probate, and the legal manual for Living Trust Maker and co-author of How to Adopt Your Stepchild in California and 9 Ways to Avoid Estate Taxes.
