From the Author:
I am immensely pleased that Yellow Bus has become a Corwin "BestSeller."  It has been used by many faculty study groups to foster reflection on how we can encourage students to become more curious about the content they study.   Always being mindful of the topics each of us is required to teach, we can, however, provide opportunities for students to encounter within these subjects perplexities, mysteries and intriguing situations that stimulate inquiry and can lead to purposeful investigations within the established curricular guidelines, goals and objectives.I have also been heartened to learn from folks who used this book at the elementary level that its basic principles and approaches are just as applicable at the high school level.Yellow Bus continues to be, I hope, a reflection of what excellent teachers are doing to engage their students more fully in the learning process.Students who are excited about finding answers to their own questions--again, within guidelines outlined by their teachers--have a stake in their own learning and are, therefore, more highly engaged and motivated.
