For extra effect, arrange them in an aquarium for an undersea scene.

Grade 5-7–Nguyen's newest set of origami challenges includes step diagrams, with standard notation, for an elegant seahorse, two menacing-looking sharks, and 16 other marine models–all constructed from one or two sheets of origami paper, and many requiring scissors and/or glue. After opening with a review of basic folds, the creator presents his models in no discernible order, prefacing each set of diagrams with a manipulated scene of finished models superimposed onto a photographed beach or underwater backdrop. The only real dud here is the "Octopus," which has but six legs; otherwise, though the creatures are all heavily stylized, they should make more satisfying projects for experienced paper folders than the (mostly) simpler entries in Michael G. LaFosse's Making Origami Fish Step by Step (Rosen, 2002).–John Peters, New York Public Library
