The on! Hope I can indulge in becoming the Editor of this war is that the late feafon in which it is publifh ed may have enabled me to render it more valuable by te ferences, in the notes, to the latefl decifions in. Our courts; But this collection now a pears in a more imper feét flare than probabl it woul if either Mr. Juflice Miles or the late Mr. E filler had publifhed it as ma ny of the determinations of the Court of Common Pleas during the latter part of the time when the Chief Jultice prefided there are not now to be found, though it is evi dent from certain marks on the paper books' of thofe cafes that he had written out the judgments of the court which he publicly delivered. This lofs is however in fomei hances fupplied by the manufcripts of the late Mr. Juflice Wm. Fang/cue, and by a copy of fome notes taken b the late Mr. J. Abney, in the hand-writin of his 0 erk, which I have added in the notes, the fgrmcr of which were in the colleétion of the Lord Chief Juflice and the latter were obligingly fent to me by Mr. Juftice Lawrence.
