Zur Vollendung und Herausgabe dieses zweiten Bandes hat mich nicht etwa ein buchhändlerischer Erfolg des ersten bewogen. Wie bei allen wissenschaftlichen Werken, die nicht einen in den breitesten Schichten bekannten Hauptmeister behandeln, blieb auch bei meinem ersten astorga-bande die Teilnahme auf enge, in der Musikgeschichte heimische Kreise beschränkt. Deren feines Verständnis und anregender Zuspruch haben mich zur Vollendung des Ganzen ermutigt, zu der mich auch die innere Verpflichtung trieb, den ersten Band nicht als Torso stehen zu lassen.
