For the benefit of those who are not familiar with the different grades of leathers, we will say that every whole hide (cow hide.) is split into three separate and dis tinct hides. The best hide of course, is the outer, or grain hide, which we use exclusively. The middle and flesh splits are worked up into clever imitations of the outer hide, but they do not stand the test of time. These split leathers can be bought for the same price as the Imperial leathers, but we would not guarantee them to last six months in actual service.
The Cow Hides can be furnished in red, brown, green or black and in either the smooth or Spanish Grain. (see prices of Genuine Leather Covers under the description of each piece.) The Genuine Morocco Roan Skins are an imported goat hide. They are soft, durable and guaranteed to wear for years. The Roan skins can be furnished in red, brown or green, but only in the pebbled grain.
The so-called Roan skins that are usually sold to those who are not familiar with leathers, are nothing more or less than sheep skins. They will not wear well and we do not handle them. We use nothing but the best grade of Imperial leather. Which we do guarantee to wear, and the best grade of Genuine Roan skins and Cow hides.
