This location was selected over several others in some respects more eligible, on account of its celebrity for health; and the history of the school for more than twenty years, fully sustains the previous reputation of the place. It has enjoyed a large and widely extended patronage, and the fact seems well established, that pupils from the hill country, coming here in October and leaving in July, are little, if at all, liable to chills, the only form of disease that can be considered peculiar to this climate, while those from nearer the sea-coast are generally improved in health by a residence here.
