When my husband and I adopted Sage, a 1 1/2 year old Springer Spaniel, in 2001, little did we know the many wonderful life lessons she would teach us -- and other people. Sage became blind by the time she was three, affected by a genetic disease called Progressive Retinal Atrophy. We were devastated, we were unsure, but we persevered... and so did Sage. That perseverance was just one of many life lessons we discovered; others included joy despite challenge, courage in spite of great trial, and love beyond the uncertainty.
