Trisha Barnes is an accomplished Northwest writer and novelist, currently focusing her craft on creating books for children ages newborn through grade 3. Trisha Barnes is the creator of the "Toddler Word Modeler" series of children's books, based on the principle that infants, toddlers, and young students can learn advanced vocabulary through use and explanation -- modeling the information that they are presented with. "I don't write according to the standard age and word lists," Trisha said recently in an interview. "When I write stories for young children, I use whatever length words fit the story and my ideas. I expect the adult reader to explain the harder words to the listener, and with repetition within the story the child is presented with an opportunity for a larger and more sophisticated vocabulary." Trisha currently resides with her family in Southern Oregon, and is active in community support efforts and educational advocacy for students.
