From the Author:

My goals in writing crime novels are to deliver an exciting, dramatic and enjoyable story, AND, to raise social issues through the characters' everyday lives. As an infectious disease nurse and a New Yorker, I was appalled in 2003-2004 at the officials from the city, state and federal government who denied that so many First Responders and New Yorkers living and working at Ground Zero were growing sick and, in some cases, dying from the toxins they inhaled after 9/11. As a result, when I approached my 5th crime novel, I decided to tell the story of a physician who failed to protect his police officer neighbor and his daughter, who attended a nearby high school, from the airborne toxins.

At the same time, as a veteran nurse who has always provided my patients with a  gentle, helping hand, I had a marvelous time imagining the life of a cold blooded killer. His state of mind is so foreign to me, yet familiar as well. We all have that dark side hiding inside of us. It was great fun to let that part of my psyche wander through the pages.
