About the Author:

Miryam Gordon is an expert at transmitting difficult concepts to a general audience. As a consultant, author, speaker and mother of successful young adults, Ms. Gordon has gained valuable experience in the teaching of financial concepts to young adults. Helping her children learn to manage their money wisely was a top parental priority. The techniques and tools she developed for them were the basis for her development of Money Sucks! Money Strategies for Real Life.

Ms. Gordon's business experience includes twelve years owning her own accounting firm, years of service in human resources, certifying as a paralegal, and certifying in technical writing and editing. She is keenly aware of the financial potholes appearing in young people's road of life and wants to do everything she can to help young people avoid falling into them, to keep them safe from accidents.

Our U.S. economy is showing the effects of the lack of basic financial skills possessed by our citizenry. We need to prioritize this subject matter and make sure every 18 year old has the knowledge of how our financial system works, on a very basic level, just as he or she needs to know how traffic works whether driving, biking or walking, how to get and keep a job, and other vital safety areas.

Ms. Gordon is also Board Chair of a non-profit corporation that she founded in 2008: Financial Literacy Is Essential (found at FLIE.org). She formed the corporation to continue her work in financial literacy efforts and to raise money to distribute her book and other educational materials to young adults, immigrants learning the U.S. system of money, and other groups, such as potential home-buyers.
