Welcome to the World can be read at a welcoming ceremony or a baptism, as a means of consciously welcoming a newborn baby into the family, the community, the world. It can be read to a child to remind them of their own spirituality. Presented in red linen with gold lettering, and beautiful full color illustrations, this hard-cover keepsake book for children is a "blessing" each time it is read. The book includes a page for the child's name, date of birth, and a photograph.

About the Author:
Kathrin Smith is a birth doula, and mother of two grown children. Her experiences serving as a doula and her feelings about the sacredness of birth inspired her to write this book.
Review:
I am certain if everyone in the world had this wonderful message, Welcome to the World, read to them before they were born, after they arrived, and throughout their childhood, we would not have such violence and disharmony in the world. Thank you Kathrin Smith for your vision. --Opal Palmer Adisa, Ph.D. Author, Parenting Editor, KPFA radio, Berkeley, Ca

I begin each parent education workshop by reading Welcome to the World, a sweet and beautiful reminder that we want the best for all our children, that they know and live the "truth of who they are", magnificent! The parents absolutely love it! --Sheila Butcher Smith, Project Manager, KQED Early Learning Education Network, San Francisco, CA

I like your book very much. I realize that I view books like Welcome to the World and Frasier's On the Day That You Were Born through the lens of life, sort of arrival and departure from/to the same cosmic soup. It is a gentle and loving book that never slips into icky saccharine. I'd love to carry it at the store. --Margaret Simpson, Children's Book Buyer, Clean Well Lighted Place for Books, San Francisco, CA
