About the Author:

Ben Maartman was born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1924. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII after which he attended the University of British Columbia and won a scholarship for Creative Writing. He graduated as a social worker and worked in corrections for many years as well as doing dozens of radio and TV drama and documentary scripts for the CBC. He and his wife live on Vancouver Island.
