This memoir begins in a dark time, after my husband died, but soon we move into the light. I love writing about family life, and it so happens that my family is mostly me and Samantha, who was five when this journey begins but is now a teenager, with plenty of support from extended relations and friends. My writing always has in mind that family is family, no matter how small or large, or how far apart we are. We need each other, and we need to eat and laugh.
