'Mystique Poetica; Living Philosophy Through Revealed Wisdom', is a book of and about mystical poetry. Specifically, it presents a well instructed sampling of ancient and modern embodiment techniques of poetic cultivation. The poems and the techniques are designed to generate, within the reader, moments of 'deep and complete experience.' The text is accompanied by several selections of the authors original Chinese calligraphy.

From the Publisher:
In "Mystique Poetica," poet and artist John Bright-Fey writes for those among us who want to directly experience the hidden and transcendent side of life. As much scientist as shaman, this modern day mystic shows us how to tap the innate personal wisdom that emerges from that profound experience.

Rubrica Press is dedicated to transmitting mystical art, science, and literature to contemporary society as a way of revealing the divine in all of us.

From the Author:
I have been fascinated with the subject of mystical literature for more than three decades. To me, books have always been portals to another dimension -- sacred spaces hidden in cloth, paper, and ink awaiting an investment of human energy. With that investment comes treasures unimaginable. For me personally, poetry has always presented the most beautiful bounty.

When writing "Mystique Poetica," I wanted to present one simple idea: anyone can engineer a profound mystical event by reading the verse in the first part of the book while under the influence of the Embodiment Techniques in the second part. Each time you bring your attention to this joining of poem and technique, you will generate an experience unique to you -- but one that is familiar in the traditions of the mystic poets throughout human history.

Cultivation is the general term that ancient Chinese artist-philosophers used to describe the elemental melding of mind, body, human spirit, and the power of the ever-changing present. When this all-encompassing approach is applied to verse, I call it Poetic Cultivation. Unfortunately, in our day, reading is too often considered a passive diversion. To the Cultivator who follows in the footsteps of ancient literati this is anathema.

I wrote every poem in this book as a transcendental baedecker of sorts, each verse being the record of a specific excursion into the mystic. When you read a poem and simultaneously use one or more Embodiment Techniques, you will engineer a mystical event that will bring you into the realm of magic. It will reflect the gifts of the instant, the poetry, and you yourself. This event will both instruct you and allow you to plumb the depths of the hidden, silent realm of the moment. What you find will enhance and enrich any religion, science, art, craft -- or life -- that you, the Poetic Cultivator, bring to it.
