About the Author:
Larry Davies is pastor of Timberlake United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia -- one of the largest and fastest growing churches in its area. Known for his humorous, down-to-earth approach, Davies is the author of four books and writes "Sowing Seeds of Faith" a weekly devotion and Bible study that is published in newspapers and web sites and on the Sowing Seeds web site at www.SowingSeedsofFaith.com. Davies and his church have earned a reputation for reaching out and helping others -- whether in their own community or around the world. They have adopted the lighthouse as a symbol of their mission to be "A Light to Guide You Safely Home," and strive to put their beliefs into action in practical, tangible ways.
Review:
"Working with Larry, I've grown to have the utmost respect and admiration for him. He is a tireless worker, a wise and godly man, and a great friend. I was overjoyed at the idea of being one of the first to read his new book. In the coming pages, you'll be led closer to God through a series of lessons on life and on the Bible. The lessons come mostly from Larry's real-life experiences. Some are so funny you'll laugh out loud... Others are so touching, you'll feel you know the people he s talking about -- and care for them as much as he." --Len Stevens, Anchor/Reporter, ABC-13 News, Lynchburg, Virginia
"Rev. Davies not only teaches mission outreach, he lives it. When the tsunami struck Asia in December 2004, Larry traveled with me to Sri Lanka to meet the people who lost their homes and the ability to provide for their families. In weeks, his church helped secure funding for 33 fishing vessels so a community of 54,000 people could rebuild its economy. His church is energized to care for people in need. When you read this book, you will be inspired to do the same." --Rev. Ron Davidson, President and CEO, Gleaning for the World
"Larry Davies is my kind of pastor. He leads with his heart and isn't afraid to follow it into some rough places. His profound insight and deep understanding of what it means to live a Christian life -- and his willingness to do what it takes -- are instructive to all who seek to make a difference." --Rev. Ray Buchanan, Founder & President, Stop Hunger Now
