Though this bibliography of Stone's writings does a good job of identifying first editions, it is of dubious value to most libraries. No attempt was made to include critical or biographical studies or to track down Stone's newspaper writings. The list of translations is incomplete, while the compilers report they were "unable" to consult the British Humanities Index for Stone's Guardian articles. Though the compilers found not a hint of Stone's book on Operation Deep Freeze, FirstSearch lists a number of excellent possibilities. Careful searching in such indexes might have turned up items of more value than the 41 dust-jacket blurbs included here. The compilers' observation that their book will be superseded is right on target.
