About the Author:
Eleanor Ray was born in 1904 in Yakima, Washington. In 1951 her best-selling humorous book celebrating the delights of single parenting, We Kept Mother Single, was published. Shortly thereafter, she married Martin Ray. After Martin's death in 1976, she continued to live in their chateau on Mt. Eden in Saratoga until her death at the age of 96 in 2000. Barbara Kamb Marinacci, Eleanor Ray's daughter has written or co-authored ten books, and has edited or ghostwritten numerous others. With her own three children now grown, she lives on Martin Ray's vineyard property, where she keeps busy with writing and editing projects and gardening.
