Meditation is the art of inturning, focusing, and balancing the forces of your mind to a point of peace and tranquility. In the calmness of the meditative mind, all polarities are harmonized into a stillness which is the wellspring of mental creativity. Meditation is a way of freeing the mind from past compulsion so that you might be truly "born again." It is the art of touching the real you, beyond name and form, which is eternal, unchanging, and ever blissful.
My meditation is that our life be happy and that you attain the satisfaction of fulfillment which comes to the soul who finds and shares the shining calmness of the quiet mind.
There is a place deep within you where you can go to find peace, life-direction, and indeed, the supreme happiness.
May that attunement of the Universal Life source which is meditation be yours. And may this book help you in your search.
Om shanty, shanty, shantih.
What is meditation? Meditation is the art of remaining totally still and relaxed physically and mentally, while centering your awareness. You then slowly and gently move ever upward, ascending toward that which is most beautiful and most meaningful to you. You move toward your concept of beauty and truth, and then one step beyond that concept of beauty to come face to face with the beholder of beauty, the knower of beauty, the perceiver of beauty: the Atma. The Atma is that soul beyond beauty, transcendent and immaculate.
Meditation is a process of total relaxation. It is a process of driving gently, quietly, and serenely into your being. It can only be done with a quiet mind, a still body, without force, and with some sense of joy.
The secret of Meditation is to transcend the everyday computers of logic and emotion by bringing them together, by merging them, by neutralizing one against the other. In this way the computers become balanced so that the feeling computer, which is hardly working, is activated to bring about Divine Intuition, and then God-consciousness.
The main thing to remember with the technique of Kriya, as in any meditative technique, is that it is a task until it becomes a habit. After that it is effortless. The Kriya meditation should be as effortless as it can be. It is difficult to make the Kriya technique effortless, but that is the goal. Anything that becomes a habit becomes somewhat effortless, for it becomes a groove in the mind.
Often you hear the Teacher say, "Find joy, feel joy when you meditate." The purpose of feeling this joy is simply to encourage your returning to meditation again and again.
