This book was inspired by a campaign that aimed to save a small part of this island for its people - the scenic and wild Old Head of Kinsale in County Cork. In 1997 a developer purchased the Old Head and built a luxury golf course on the headland. The public was prohibited from walking in the area and despite many spirited protests the highest courts in the land stood with the developer. Today it remains extremely difficult to access the beautiful walks and coastline along the headland.

The book is also a celebration of what we can do when we stand together. Some people will ask is this really the right kind of thing for a children's book? We believe it is. There are plenty of stories about princes and princesses but not so many about community, solidarity and standing up for what is right. We hope you enjoy this story.
