Robin Richardson a director of the Insted consultancy, was formerly director of the Runnymede Trust and before that chief inspector in Brent. Highly regarded as a lecturer at conferences and training events, his publications include Inclusive Schools, Inclusive Society and Inside Stories, both with Insted colleague Angela Wood.

The book has much wider uses that the RE classroom. Anyone involved in taking secondary assemblies would find it invaluable. Those involved in PSE would find a wealth of stories that explore the spiritual, moral and cultural themes of life. It provides an essential tool for anyone who is experienced or inexperienced at story telling with pupils. The experience and combination of Angela Wood and Robin Richardson has resulted in a book that I feel is a must in every school. At a time when once again the curriculum is under review this book is an invaluable resource to refresh the spirit of all children . I recommend it to all of our schools unreservedly. Reaction It is difficult to convey the spirit of this book in a review - a bit like translating poetry into dull hackneyed prose... We have come to expect originality and challenge from both these authors and they do not disappoint. Not the least of their skill is the scope and the range of its worth, for RE, PSE, Collective worship, English Language, teaching and, most of all perhaps, for earthing that word we hear so much about these days - the spiritual dimension of experience.
