Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. Flat-Signed by the author on the title page. As you can see, the covers are very clean. They don't have any conspicuous wear. The white lettering on the spine is very bright. The inside covers and end papers are a similar dark red color. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover. The interior is in excellent shape. The pages are exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling. I don't see any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And with the exception of the poet's signature, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The dust jacket is in quite solid shape. The white spine and rear cover has a little toning. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. Here is one of the poems in the book: This Too Will Stand Recorded By Vivian Smallwood We cannot read the moment, after all. Too much has gone before, too much will follow, And this is out of context, like a word Taken at random from a book of words. Nothing has meaning of itself alone. We may not say that this is good or bad, Only that what is written in our flesh Is chiseled on the granite cliff of time, And some day when the final hieroglyph Completes the final, unimagined truth, This too will stand recorded in the rock And can be read, if there are eyes to read it. Used Hardcover First Edition Signed Quantity: 1

Rareeclectic
(Pound ridge, NY, U.S.A.)

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. This book is both inscribed on the first front end paper ( 'For David, With all best wishes-- Nick, 10/27/85') and flat-signed ( 'Nicholas Rinaldi' ) on the title page. There is also a signed letter to the author's friend David which is dated October 28, 1985 and is hand-written on Professor Rinaldi's Fairfield University stationary. The letter is in excellent condition. It has 14 lines and is signed 'All best, Nick.' Inside the book when I purchased it some years ago there was an announcement of its publication from the publisher, Negative Capability Press, which includes an excerpt from one of the poems and several blurbs that can also be seen on the front inside flap. Also inside the book is a copied page from Publishers Weekly which includes a quite positive review of Mr. Rinaldi's novel Bridge Fall Down. Both of these are in very good condition. One of the blurbs is from the poet Richard Eberhart. He wrote 'lively, dynamic poems. The book is a triumph of recreating facts, personalities, ideas and myths of the time of World War II before and after.' The poet and novelist Joseph Bruchac is also quoted: 'The Luftwaffe In Chaos is a tough-minded, thoughtful book. It is as necessary as memory, art which is committed and highly crafted at one and the same time.' You can see the yellow covers in the photos. They're perfectly clean. The black lettering on the spine is nicely bright. There isn't any conspicuous wear. There is a small, light crease near the bottom edge of the spine, a tiny crinkle at its top edge. The six cover edges are in excellent shape, as are the corners. The page edges look perfectly clean. The white inside covers and end papers are perfectly clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover. The covers are also very solidly bound. The pages are exceptionally clean. I don't see any soiling at all. I'm not seeing any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments. And no other writing than the author's signature and signed inscription. The dust jacket is clean. It has some minor wear. There is a small scuff off the front top edge, another just off the front middle edge. There is a speck-sized loss at the spine's bottom edge and a little crinkling off its top edge. The spine (and just adjacent on both sides) is also sun lightened, as you can see in the photo. There is a small closed tear off the top edge of the rear cover. The flaps are in excellent condition, one teeny tiny nick at the front top edge and two speck-sized tan spots off the top edge of the rear flap. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've always had it in a fitted protective cover. Inscribed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 004645
