The authors discuss the 16 classes of railroad station built between 1879 and 1950 and what determined the type and size of station each community received. Illustrated throughout with over 200 black and white photos as well as original architectural plans. With map of CPR lines in western Canada showing the location of each station as well as listings of each station alphabetically, by location and by type. The CP's station designs are also compared with those of the Grand Trunk and the Canadian Northern. The book includes a discussion of the life of a station agent and his family as well a look at country stations today. With bibliography. 168 pages.
