Seyyed Hossein Nasr is University Professor of Islamic Studies at the George Washington University and president of the Foundation for Traditional Studies, the publisher of the journal Sophia. He is a world renowned scholar on Islam and the perennial philosophy and is the author of over fifty books and five hundred articles on topics ranging from comparative religion to traditional Islamic philosophy, cosmology, art, ecology, politics, and mysticism. Among his most notable works are Knowledge and the Sacred (1981), Islamic Art and Spirituality (1987), and Religion and the Order of Nature (1996). His The Philosophy of Seyyed Hossein Nasr recently appeared as a volume in the prestigious Library of Living Philosophers series.
