About the Author:
Ben Forkner and Patrick Samway, S.J., both received their PhDs in American Literature from the University of North Carolina. Dr. Forkner is Director of American Studies at the University of Angers, France, and was editor of the anthology MODERN IRISH SHORT STORIES. Fr. Samway teaches at Fordham University and is literary editor of the weekly journal America.
Review:

"Lovers of fine writing will find the hefty sampling of twentieth-century southern U.S. literature by black and white men and women to be irresistible... a dignified yet lively testament to the fact that the American South represents, among many other things, a particularly distinctive body of literature." --Booklist
