About the Author:

Professor Boyle is a leading US expert in international law and former Legal Advisor to the Palestinian Delegation to the Middle East peace negotiations. He drafted the US Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, represented the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina before the International Court of Justice (1993-94); and served, inter alia, on the Board of Directors of Amnesty International, as a Consultant to the Quakers, and Vice President of Human Rights Research Foundation. He holds a Doctor of Law Magna Cum Laude as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University, and teaches International Law at the University of Illinois, Champaign. He is author of numerous works, including: The Criminality of Nuclear Deterrence, Defending Civil Resistance Under International Law, The Future of International Law and American Foreign Policy The Bosnian People Charge Genocide, inter alia. Professor Boyle holds a J.D. degree magna cum laude and A.M. and Ph.D. degrees in political science, both from Harvard University.
