Basically a self-taught artists, Peterson conducts summer workshops all along the West Coast and in Wyoming and his native Utah for students around the country. During the winter, he teaches his popular step-by-step watercolor approach throughout the Southwest. He is also sought after as a lecturer, judge, teacher, and popular demonstrator for art clubs throughout the Southwest.
Peterson's paintings hang in many public and private collections nationwide. He is also the author of Walter Foster book Special Effects in Watercolor. He and his wife, Sharon, maintain a studio in Hemet, California.
