Come spend a lazy afternoon with the folks in Calicheville, where everyone's dog is treated like a votin' citizen, cinnamon rolls are a staple, and sports are a religion. Laugh as the girl sheriff tries to keep a town of 1,200 on a righteous path. Enjoy recipes for Dixie Joe's CINNAMON ROLLS, Mose's HELL HOT CHILI, and Bea's PICKLES. And if all this is not enough fun, visit their caliche pit left by those road worlun' boys quite some time ago!br>
Calicheville is a sleepy little town of about 1200 people located west of the Caprock in Llano Estacado country. The soil around Calicheville is too poor for tanning and will only support about one cow to the acre, and thus it is a constant source of wonder that some foolhardy pioneers decided to establish a town here in the first place, but no mystery at all that they called it Calicheville.

Most of the residents know every person in town. They even remember their parents and grandparents. But they are proud people Navaho live by the old rules established by the generations before them, and arc imbued with the desire to be clean, well dressed, well mannered and proper. Most of them. As in any community; there are a few rebels who are not so persnickety.

. The business district is made up of a drug store, a dry goods store, a beauty shop, a grocery store, a five-and-dime or notions store, a funeral home, a vegetable stand, a service station, a court house, a jail, and two churches.

The people of the town and ranch hands from nearby make a habit of socializing at the Home Town Cafe, drinking coffee and eating the specialty of the house, Dixie Joe's famous cinnamon rolls.

It has often been observed by some of the more cynical residents that nobody would dare leave Calicheville because then don't want to get talked about. But even with all the disagreements and spats, when the chips arc down, the people of Calicheville pull together as a team.
