From the Inside Flap:
This book has six major sections: the first section introduces the basic principles of motor learning, which are designed to enhance the effectiveness of the coaching process. By following these age-proven coaching principles, the learning process is made more efficient.

Coaches are always looking for ways to enhance players' motivation and focus. The second section presents several useful motivational strategies coaches can use to make their training program more efficient. Quotations presented at the end of the section can be a useful tool for inspiring individual athletes or the team.

The third section is comprised of lead-up games that can be used as preparation for soccer-specific practice. These games closely mimic the soccer-specific structure. Lead-up games are grouped together according to technical similarity or level of complexity.

Properly run practices, in which well-executed drills are backed up with good teaching and feedback, are the mainstay of effective coaching. The fourth section of the book presents over 130 drills. Instructional points are presented before each sub-section to effectively guide coaches and players during practice. Each drill is briefly described and complemented with a simple diagram. The activities are grouped according to technical training, individual and team tactics drills, and defensive tactics drills. It is up to the coach to decide which drills are appropriate for the age and skill level of his or her team.

Self-directed drills, using SoccerPal, are introduced in section five. These drills enable players to independently work on various soccer skills.

Section six presents examples of useful circuit training programs. These programs are based on the drills in the preceding section, and are designed to increase skill level and game-specific fitness.
