The General is Up is a comic fictitional look at the essentially tragic story of the rise and fall of an African dictator, and the horrendous wercking of a beautiful productive country in which the formerly idealistic landscape lies scattered with corpses and burt villages.

About the Author:
Peter Nazareth is the author of one previous novel, In a Brown Mantle, two studies of African literature, and several radio plays. Currently he is Chair of the African-American World Studies Program at the University of Iowa.
