This basic book begins by describing the ten kinds of clouds and the weather that they produce. Other atmospheric phenomena such as haloes, sun dogs, sunsets, and rainbows are also included. Some conditions are discussed or illustrated in great detail. The diagram showing six different kinds of precipitation which could all be produced by snow crystals subjected to a variety of air and ground conditions makes a winter weather forecast more intelligible. The book is beautifully illustrated with color photographs and paintings. Some are small, but all are accurately illustrative of the phenomenon described. The small print size and double-column layout will discourage marginal readers.
