About the Author:
Jirina Marton
From School Library Journal:

PreS-Gr 2 Playful, gently wise, and slightly mysterious, Midnight Visit at Molly's House is a tale about the moon's visit one balmy summer night to the pink house where Molly lives with her parents. Never having seen up close the town on which he shines each night, the moon wanders through Molly's garden, peers inquisitively through her window, then cautiously enters the house. He meanders through the house, delighting in all the things that he's never seen before. Smiling at Molly, he then sinks below the horizon as the sun comes up, and Molly awakens vaguely remembering a dream about the moonor was it a visit? Marton's warm personification of a curious moon and richly evocative descriptions of setting harmonize perfectly with her dreamy, childlike paintings. The opening illustrationa moon's-eye view of the town buildings, winding river, and distant hillsexudes a calm peace through the cool palette bathed in moonlight, yet simultaneously pulsates with energy and mystery. In her very brief fairy tale, Marton captures the magical imagination and curiosity of a child's fantasy world, while very gently sharing some adult philosophy: the moon sees with new insight and great delight all the mundane realities that children often take for granted. Pamela Miller Ness, The Fenn School, Concord, Mass.
