The Colombian capital of Bogota, with its colonial streets, subterranean salt cathedral, fabulous gold museum, and the richest coffee in the world promises excitement and adventure for 13-year-old twins Justin and Jenny Parker. But they find more excitement than they bargain for when guerrillas threaten Uncle Pete's company Triton Oil. When their uncle is kidnapped by the guerrillas, friendship with a street girl offers a clue to his whereabouts. Until they find themselves betrayed in the hands of the same guerrillas. As Justin and Jenny race both the guerrillas and the imminent explosion of a nearby volcano, the twins learn the true meaning of friendship--and forgiveness.

From the Author:
I myself grew up overseas in the countries and places described in my books. My parents were missionaries in Colombia. My own childhood was spent canoeing up and down the jungle rivers, flying in Cessna to boarding school in Venezuela, hiking up the Andes mountains and into the jungles of South America. My hope for the Parker Twin series is that each book , along with its exciting mystery/suspense story, will teach solid values and open children's minds to a great, exciting world of other peoples and cultures not so different under the surface than our own.
From the Back Cover:

Colombia rebels and a volcano ready to erupt

Everyone is on high alert, but Justin and Jenny Parker aren’t really concerned until Uncle Pete, a high-level executive for Triton Oil, is kidnapped—right from under their noses! His kidnappers, Colombian guerrillas, want to trade Uncle Pete for some of their men who are in jail for bombing a Triton Oil facility.

Now the twins must not only decide whether they can trust a new friend, but they have to rescue Uncle Pete before a nearby volcano erupts.

“Page turning, action-packed adventure. These books are cool!”

—Bill Myers, author of Forbidden Doors

“I never knew what was going to happen. I kept leaning forward as I read, waiting to turn the page.”

—Jonathan, age 13

Jeanette Windle has spent most of her life in South America, where she canoed in jungle rivers, hiked the steep Andes mountain trails, and swung from vines off cliffs into huge pools of water below. She and her family—husband, Marty, and four kids— now live in Miami, Florida.
