About the Author:
Philip Wadsworth (deceased) was Professor of French at Rice University and at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, prior to his retirement. He is the author of the Novels of Gamberville (Yale University Press, 1942), Young La Fontaine (Northwestern University Press, 1952), and numerous other scholarly publications.
