Synopsis

This book is not a guidebook, except incidentally. It isn't a history book, though it does contain some fragments of history. It is primarily a book of photographs, but one trusts that, by the inclusion of brief text about the places portrayed, the photographs may become more than something to look at. As a Wellesley graduate of many years ago, and as a long-time resident of the Town of Wellesley, it is my hope for the book that, whether it be for alumna of freshman, townsman or visitor, it may make the Wellesley of today vibrate, as it does for me, with what has happened he in the past; that it will make real and human those names that now, for most, merely identify a pile of brick or stone, a golf course, a school, a hill, a pond; thatnit may, perhaps, add a fourth dimension to was it pictured. For the convenience of those unfamiliar with the geography of Wellesley thephotographs are arranged in groups according to the part of campus or town in wich they were taken.
