This publication documents the genesis and development of one of the first New Urbanist communities in the United States, Seaside, which has been the subject of intense debate among architects, planners, ecologists, and civic-minded citizens. Located in Florida's panhandle, this town was created in the early 1990s by two of the most prominent leaders of the New Urbanist movement, Miami-based architect- planners Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk.
