As always, Hughes knows just which moments to illustrate and which to leave to the imagination; as always, she is attentive to nuances of expression that extend and enrich the narrative. "My Naughty Little Sister" is audacious and outrageous, yet clearly well loved by all. What better message for the sometimes cross and naughty reader (of any age).
