Each chapter of Leading When God Is Moving begins with a contrast between the commitments which help build momentum and those which hinder it. The issues that arise out of these contrasts, such as loss of identity, community changes and breaking through growth barriers, are then developed. The author concludes with questions that cause personal reflection and an inventory list for spiritual leaders that will help them identify how they need to manage the change that confronts their churches.
Other topics dealt with include spiritual myths like "Leadership is easy in a church that's experiencing a movement of God"; having courage in the face of opposition; building a group of supporting leaders; and setting priorities.

Momentum...it's God's work. Spiritual leaders can neither create a movement of God's Spirit nor control it. But a leader should build an atmosphere charged with a desire for spiritual momentum. Find out how leaders serve as human catalysts for what God has decided to do.
Momentum...it requires people and programs to implement change. Change is a relentless and constant companion. Change can be intimidating, but it can also create new openness in the hearts and minds of people which leads to new commitments. Be the change manager God is looking for as He responds to the courageous commitments of His people.
Wayne Schmidt's Leading When God Is Moving identifies spiritual principles for change management from the Old Testament book of Joshua.
