Review:
You supply the great idea, Stanley Corwin supplies everything you need to know to turn it into a bestseller--assuming, of course, that it really is a great idea. If it has to do with "sex, money, health, diet, [or] self-improvement," you can be certain you're on the right track. Corwin is a longtime "discoverer" of bestselling books: And Ladies of the Club, Is Elvis Alive?, The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet. Here, he expounds on the importance of great titles, shameless self-promotion, and celebrity endorsements. He discusses the pros and cons of agents, hardcovers, and script doctors. And he instructs on matters concerning submissions, contracts, special sales, and self-publishing. A fine, breezy introduction to very commercial publishing. And if you think Get Rich and Reverse Baldness While Making Love to Lose Weight sounds like a sure-fire money-maker, hands off: that title's all mine. --Jane Steinberg
